THE HIGH-SPEED UNDERWATER OFDM MODEM «VORTEX-2»

Description

The «VORTEX-2» modem uses OFDM modulation. This type of modulation is one of the most efficient in terms of frequency bandwidth utilization and operational reliability of the equipment in multipath underwater channels. The modem can work in the mode of adapting to a variable underwater environment. It automatically adjusts the FEC encoder rate, symbol modulation type, subcarrier spacing, etc. The modem monitors the integrity of the transmitted data and automatically repeatedly requested corrupted or missed data packets. The modem allows transmission of data for several subscribers simultaneously using time division multiplexing. It passed the series of full-scale tests in various water areas, including tests with the multipath propagation. Some of the applied technical solutions are protected by patent and published in scientific journals. The control is made by the RS-422 interface using the set of symbolic commands or using the specially developed program with the graphical user interface. The modem is available in two versions: with external power source and with autonomous power from the built-in battery.
